  • Group of friends

Room 2 is very generous in size and has a lovely view.

    Bathroom is a little dated

  • Older travelers

Nice situation, good decor, friendly staff.

Unfortunately certain things did not work properly, room had a music system that was not explained and turned out to only partially work, the shower was broken and would only work with the aid of a piece of wood, lightbulbs were missing or not working. The hotel prided itself on it's decor but let itself down in the attention to detail, checking that things work and are fixed should be more of a priority. There were also new staff who although friendly failed to pass on messages when this was a service they had offered.

  • Family with children

Friendly staff-nothing was too much trouble. Room was spotless with comfortable beds. Wonderful views with just a few minutes easy walk in to St Ives and the beach just a stone's throw away. Complimentary cream tea on arrival. Excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

The last bit of hill to the front door made me puff!

  • Older travelers

Location, convenience for beach and town. Friendly helpful staff

The lighting in the bathroom made it very difficult to have a proper shave. The lighting cast a big shadow exactly where it was not needed! We had to ask for replacement shampoo and shower gel, despite leaving the empty bottles as a reminder

  • Couple

All staff were very very accommodating and friendly. No negatives whatsoever.

None - brilliant hotel, very recommended.

  • Couple

    Close to town, nice breakfast

Staff service didn't seem very natural. I lost a sock, when I looked under the bed it was filthy and there was a sock.... But it wasn't mine.

  • Older travelers

The Primrose Valley hotel was a really comfortable boutique type of hotel. Breakfast was really good. No restaurant for evening meals, but the many restaurants in St Ives were only a very pleasant 10 minutes walk away. Good parking, a bonus in St Ives! Great beach very close to hotel. Our stay was lovely. The next time we stay in St Ives, we will book the Primrose Valley.

Nothing, everything was as good as we could want.

  • Couple

The hotel was very clean and the staff helpful.

We had initially booked a suite which we found had no sea view (But paying premium Price) - the room was claustrophobic and poorly laid out. The bathroom was very good but the bedroom was looking at a back wall and the outlook was very shabby. We asked to changed room and were left to sort out the down graded price our selves as booking was made on- line. You had to ask for robes which we felt was poor as we only discovered this after shower. Breakfast was average, poor selection of fruits & cereals supermarket value range however the cooked breakfast though over described was cooked well. It was a disapointment on the whole,The hotel marketed it self on a boutique hotel but failed to deliver & cut corners where possible.

  • Older travelers

We were greeted at the hotel by friendly staff and offered a tea or coffee on arrival before settling in. The room was small but very comfortable, clean and well equipped. It was lovely to have a range of current magazines in the room to flick through. Breakfasts were excellent. Would certainly recommend Primrose Valley to friends.

The hotel is not easily found first time. The street is very narrow and we thought it was a driveway at first. It is a bit daunting to first time visitors to St Ives, but not unlike many of the Cornish streets we travelled along in our 9 day tour of Cornwall. Once at the hotel, the location is fantastic to take a short walk along the beachfront to the harbour-front shops and restaurants. We loved our time at St Ives and would happily stay at the Primrose Valley hotel again.

  • Group of friends

Location and boutique feel. Locally sourced food.

Room was unclean, small and hotel did not reclean to satisfaction £2 charity donation was added to room with no explaination Returned one afternoon to find door to room ajar and unattended step ladders to loft in the middle of the room. Complementary consultation with therapist in spa didn't happen as the staff didn't arrive at appointment time. A big disappointment, hotel room was pricey and did not live up to expectations. After complaint got a (small) deduction from bill for poor cleanliness.

  • Older travelers

Everything about breakfast was fabulous - the best bacon, eggs, sausages, jam (strawberry jam to die for). The location is brilliant - 2 mins walk from ST Ives station and 1min from the beautiful beach. Rooms are well appointed and we had a large balcony overlooking the bay and the harbour. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and efficient.

The pillows - very very hard to sleep on these - too insubstantial, no spring in them. Mind you we nearly always have trouble with hotel pillows...

  • Older travelers

    Service and food were excellent

Initial disappointment: thought I had booked a room with a sea view/balcony but apparently this was not the case. Not clear from staff whether there was a disparity between this website and the hotel'S.

  • Older travelers

The food was absolutely great - fresh fruit, homemade bread and locally sourced meat, eggs, jams etc. Everything was organic and very tasty. The toiletries in the bathroom - REN, which were available to buy, were also very good.

We found the Hotel difficult to find - we were looking for a 'brown sign' - which every other hotel seemed to have but Primrose Valley didn'T. This was surprising as I had found out about the Hotel through a tourist book in WHSmiths and it came highly recommended. I wouldn't say I didn't like it - but the steep road down to the Hotel was a little challenging. There was also no mention of the railway track and station that was right outside our window - althought the trains didn't run through the night and didn't in any way spoil our weekend.

  • Older travelers

Very good breakfasts. Freshly prepared fruit salad every day. All food locally sourced, nicely presented, delicious. Decor modern and tasteful. Fresh flowers in lounge area. Nice bespoke furniture. Friendly efficient staff. Extremely comfortable bed.

Extractor fan in shower room in our room seemed to be broken. No light bulb in light above mirror - should have been checked. Room a bit small but it was on offer at a very reasonable price.

  • Couple

Very helpful and friendly staff, excellent room, hotel perfect location.

    Nothing, stay was excellent
